November school-parent checklist

Quick answer: After October's conferences and fall push, November is for wrap-ups, Thanksgiving week planning, early winter-break logistics, and a light spirit or restaurant night if October stayed quiet.

Last updated October 15, 2026

  • Conference follow-ups and any teacher action items from October meetings
  • Thanksgiving week: early pickup, no-school days, and lunch/plan changes on the family calendar
  • Confirm winter break dates in your work calendar (and travel blackout days)
  • If October was a light community month, schedule a restaurant spirit night or spirit-wear push for November (fundraiser calendars often keep October lighter before winter drives — see the two-anchor calendar idea at https://www.read-a-thon.com/solutions/pta-fundraising-calendar)
  • Start a teacher-appreciation idea list for later in the year (don't wait until the week of)
  • Picture retakes or late fall photo day if your school runs one
  • Check lost-and-found before long weekends
  • Update after-school pickup and emergency contacts before holiday substitutes
