School fun run playbook

Steps

1. 8 weeks out: get principal or district approval, pick a date and rain date, and choose a pledge platform.
2. 6 weeks: recruit a lead and four committee roles (pledges, course and safety, volunteers, prizes and comms).
3. 4 weeks: launch the pledge page, send the family letter, and open volunteer sign-up.
4. 2 weeks: confirm the course, water, first aid and volunteer schedule.
5. Week of: send daily progress updates and post a class leaderboard.
6. Day of: run a check-in table, track laps per class, and photograph only kids with media consent.
7. After: send thank-yous within 48 hours, collect pledges within two weeks, and publish totals.

Money handling: use a two-person count for any cash, and follow your PTA's financial procedures.
